요괴를 볼 수 있는 주인공 나츠메가 할머니의 유품인 '우인장'을 물려받은 후, 나츠메와 우인장을 지켜주는 냥코선생과 함께 우인장에 이름이 적인 요괴들에게 이름을 돌려주는 나날을 보낸다. 다양한 요괴와 사람들과의 새로운 만남과 인연만큼이나 함께 늘어나가는 소중한 것들을 지키기 위해 나츠메와 조금씩 용기를 내 또 다른 만남을 위해 나아간다.
