닌자 마을 중 하나인 나뭇잎 마을. 매일같이 장난만 치며 공부도 뒤쳐져서 졸업조차 불안하기만 한 문제아 나루토. 그런 그이지만 마을에서 제일 가는 닌자, '호카게'가 되고 싶다는 커다란 꿈을 지니고 있다. 하지만, 자신의 출생의 비밀을 안 나루토는 결의를 새롭게 다지고 같은 학교 학생인 사스케, 사쿠라와 함께 닌자로서의 첫 발을 내딛게 된다.
